Victorinox Swiss Army is renowned for their multi tool knives. The company was founded by Karl Elsener in 1884, originally making cutlery. This developed into making the now famous Officer and Sporting Knives. In 1909, Karl Elsener named his Company Victoria and when stainless steel (Inox) was invented in 1921, the family company became Victorinox.

The first Swiss Army Watch was introduced in 1989, after the popularity of the Swiss Army Knife with the American GIs returning from the war in 1945. Now one inevery four timepieces exported to the USA has the famous Cross and Shield emblem of Victorinox. Victorinox are now the only company authorized by the Swiss Government to sell the famous Swiss Army brand. If the watch does not have the Cross and Shield emblem and Victorinox Swiss Army on the dial, then it is not an authentic Victorinox Swiss Army watch.
