Gemstone Ring Resizing
All of the rings shown by John Hollins Fine Jewellery can be ordered in the finger size of your choice and should this be wrong, most rings are easily sized after purchase for a small fee in our in house jewellery workshop.
18ct gold Aquamarine & Diamond Rings offer a really clean, modern look. Aquamarines are a lovely, pale blue colour that offer more sparkle than some of the darker stones such as ruby and Sapphire.
We also offer 9ct gold Aquamarine & diamond rings that offer more value for money without compromising the quality of the ring.
Opal Rings are very popular at the present. Opals have a natural iridescence about them and show a fantastic variety of colours from blues & greens to fantastic fiery red colours. This makes them ideal for setting by themselves into 9ct Opal rings. They also look stunning when set with diamonds so we also have a great range of 9ct Opal & Diamond Rings.
Opal is the birthstone for October and so an opal ring would make an ideal birthday gift for a loved one.
The colour of an opal ring comes from the various scattering of light from the tightly packed silica spheres that make up the precious opal mineral.
Different arrangements of the spheres cause diffraction of light into different wavelengths, resulting in the various colours available in opal rings. The colours of opal rings can be so vibrant that they are often referred to as the 'fire'.
We have a wide range of opal rings available in a variety of colours. The majority of our opal rings are set in a band of 9ct yellow gold, and are often accompanied by diamonds to compliment the opal stone itself.
18ct pink sapphire & diamond rings also offer more modern look. The pink colour of the pink sapphires looks stunning when accompanied with fine diamonds.
We have a good range of pink sapphire & diamond gemstone dress rings and 18ct gold pink sapphire and diamond half eternity rings.
One of our most popular lines are the Ruby and Diamond Rings. These come as:
- 9ct Ruby and Diamond Rings
- 18ct Ruby and Diamond Rings
Our range of 18ct Ruby & Diamond Half Eternity Rings are ideal for Fortieth Ruby Wedding Anniversaries. Ruby and Diamond Three stone Rings and also Ruby & Diamond Dress rings.
The traditional blue Sapphire is still a highly sought after stone, particularly when set with fine diamonds to set off their fantastic blue colour. We stock both 9ct gold and 18ct gold Sapphire rings, set together with diamonds to enhance their appearance.
The Sapphire Ring
The gemstone known as Sapphire is made up of the mineral Corundum, which - although naturally clear - can come in a variety of different colours depending on the levels of impurities present.
Almost any corundum gemstone is called a Sapphire, with the exception of a red sapphire, more commonly known as a Ruby. A pinkish-orange sapphire also has its own name; Padparadscha.
Sapphire rings can be made using both natural and synthetic sapphire. Synthetic sapphire can be grown via many different processes, and it's relatively cheap manufacturing costs make it ideal for use in synthetic sapphire rings.
Natural sapphire rings are generally more expensive than synthetic sapphire rings, as high quality natural sapphires are harder to come by.
